The New Symposium

 

INTERNATIONAL FORUM AND RESIDENCY PROGRAM

[for musicians, researchers, pedagogues, producers, and artists from other disciplines]

As a participant in the program, you will:

 

— join a residency program for practitioners, theorists, and researchers active in music and other artistic disciplines

— present your work in weekly online sessions, receiving feedback from peers

— engage in dialogue with fellow participants, gain new perspectives, and broaden your understanding of the field

— develop your work through practice, experimentation, dialogue, and analysis with fellow participants during the in-person gathering at Bled Contemporary Music Week

— attend the festival’s symposia, lectures, and concerts while building an international network of colleagues

 

 

Possible dispositions for participants from other disciplines include themes such as:

 

— developing an independent and sustainable artistic practice
— building both artistic and theoretical portfolios
— gaining an overview of the humanities and adjacent disciplines
— realising ideas and prototypes
— developing theoretical and research approaches
— refining analytical, philosophical, and writing methods for presenting one’s work
— connecting with other artists

 

 

Examples of opportunities for participants from other disciplines:

 

— developing long-term research in collaboration with participants from various disciplines
— discussing your essays and work with other participants
— sharing your practice with fellow participants and receiving feedback
— discussing analyses of your work with fellow participants
— writing essays or reflective papers and discussing them with participants
