As a composer in the program, you will:
— join a residency program for music practitioners, theorists, and researchers
— present your compositions, research, and creative practice in weekly online sessions, receiving feedback from peers
— develop your work through practice, experimentation, dialogue, and analysis with fellow participants during the in-person gathering at Bled Contemporary Music Week, with the possibility of presenting your work in a public performance as part of the festival program
— attend lectures, symposia, and concerts at the festival while building an international network of colleagues
Possible dispositions for composers include themes such as:
— developing an independent and sustainable compositional practice
— building a compositional portfolio
— gaining an overview of the field
— initiating collaborations with performers or ensembles
— cultivating long-term compositional processes
— developing theoretical frameworks and analytical models
— realising ideas and prototypes
— formulating relevant compositional problems and proposing practical solutions
Examples of opportunities for composers:
— sharing sketches, drafts, and works in progress with fellow participants and receiving weekly feedback
— developing new compositions collaboratively with other composers and performers during the in-person gathering
— discussing analyses of your work with fellow participants
— writing essays or reflective papers and discussing them with participants
— having the opportunity to present your work in a public performance as part of the festival program
