A year gives an artistic inquiry what a single workshop rarely can: an internal history.
Here, residency names sustained presence within a cohort rather than relocation to a site.
In weekly meetings, participants present unfinished works, developing research, interpretive problems, methodological experiments, speculative propositions, and questions that resist resolution in isolation. An inquiry articulated at the beginning of the program may return months later with altered premises, materials, and consequences.
Sessions combine participant-led presentations, facilitated critical inquiry, seminars, listening and viewing sessions, practice laboratories, comparative analysis, documentation, and collective discussion.
Work is not directed toward a predetermined result. Duration makes it possible to distinguish temporary difficulty from structural limitation, test whether a method remains generative, and recognize when an apparent solution has produced a more consequential question.
Residency pathways overlap; each identifies a primary field of inquiry rather than a fixed professional identity:
Artists — interdisciplinary research, works in formation, and methodological inquiry
Composers — scores, sound works, notation, technologies, and compositional research
Performers — interpretation, rehearsal, embodiment, collaboration, and performance practice
Conductors — score study, listening, gesture, rehearsal, leadership, and collective musical formation
Music Producers — curation, programming, commissioning, artistic direction, and institutional practice
Emerging Musicians — portfolios, applications, internships, institutional literacy, and professional formation
