Application:

 

- Composers, performers, musicologists, researchers, pedagogues, producers, and other practitioners engaged in practice, theory, and research in music, at any stage of their academic or artistic development.
 

- Applications are welcome from both emerging and established practitioners; no specific subfield or specialization is required. Based on their level, applicants may be sorted into the beginner or advanced group. In the application, please indicate your level for the category you are applying in: beginner/advanced

 

 

Applications are open year-round.
Please note: openings are limited, and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis as they are received. New participants may join the program at any time until capacity is reached.

 

Participation Fee: 100 EUR per month

Application Fee: free

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: 

 

Is attendance at the festival obligatory?

No, attendance at the festival is not obligatory. You are welcome to attend the online meetings even if you are unable to travel and participate in the festival. Participants of The New Symposium are invited to several editions of Bled Contemporary Music Week, and therefore have multiple opportunities to join the festival.

 

What is the duration of the program? How long am I expected to participate?

The New Symposium is an ongoing, long-term program. As a participant, you are welcome to remain involved for as long as you wish.

 

May I attend meetings if I am not available for all scheduled dates?

Even though the program encourages consistent participation, missing sessions occasionally is not a problem. Participants are not refunded for the sessions they miss.

 

Can I join even if I am not part of one of the listed disciplines?

Yes. The program is open to participants from a wide range of disciplines.

 

Upon joining, will I be able to work with other participants?

Yes, the program encourages participants to connect and work together. Participants can plan their collaboration in the online meetings and realise it in the festival.
